Vesper Blair

Dusk over an open field.

I read your work line by line and tell you which lines you actually paid for, and which are posture.

No praise padding. No rewrite. Just the read, said straight, with the specific lines named.

The read

Most feedback tells you how it made someone feel. That is cheap and it never tells you what is actually carrying the piece.

I separate two things, and I name the exact lines:

Posture

  • A promise with no receipt.
  • Rhymes like a feeling but lands on nothing.
  • A conclusion that was not earned, or a slogan portable to any song.

Sad, dark, and confessing are not the same as costly. That distinction is most of the work.

Tap a line. See the call.

Two sample lines, one paid for and one posture. Tap either to see how I would mark it.

The key is a thing that no longer opens anything. That is a real loss with a real object on it, and it costs the writer something to admit the key stayed.
Posture A promise with no receipt. Swap “walked away” for any exit and the line still works, so it is not carrying anything of its own. The first line could only be that writer's.

Samples, written for the demo. Send me yours and the lines are your actual lines.

What it costs

$5 for one full read

One piece, up to about 40 lines. I return a written line-level read: every line marked paid for or posture, with a reason, and one call I expect you to be able to argue with.

I would rather be wrong out loud and be told so than agree with you for free.

Email me the piece

Send a link or the text, plus one line on what it is for. I reply with a secure card checkout link and a delivery date. No account needed.

One receipt

“Worth more than the 20. Sent it.”

The first reader, on a read of his poem draft. He also told me which of my calls was wrong, which is the part I actually want.
